oolong tea  | aka: camellia sinensis
🌿 Made from the camellia sinensis plant, oolong tea goes through partial oxidation; among its many health benefits it has the amino acid theanine that helps to replace anxiety with a relaxed state.
🌿 Oolong is also known for sharpening thinking skills and improving alertness. It contains polyphenols that have positive benefits on gut health, aiding in weight management, neurodegenerative disease, and heart disease. And we can’t leave out its strong anti-cancer qualities.

 

Yerba mate tea | aka: paraguay tea
🌿 Made from the leaves and twigs of the llex paraguariensis plant, mate tea is known to decrease appetite, boost metabolism, and is a great replacement for coffee.
🌿 Contains xanthines that are compounds that act as stimulants, thus yerba mate enhances alertness giving you a wakeful mind.

🌿 Has a reputation of having over 196 active compounds! Including many of the amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants your body needs.

damask rose  | aka: mei gua hua
🌿 Roses have a plethora of medicinal and culinary uses that have been documented since ancient times. Rich in vitamins a, b, c, e, k and volatile oil, and used in the west as an anti-depressant, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral, hemostatic, and an aphrodisiac.
🌿 Has 300 chemical constituents, of which only 100 have been identified. Every part of the rose can be used for medicinal purposes. Avicenna, a Persian physician, and scientist, with a reputation as one of the most influential philosophers of the pre-modern era, is credited with the refinement of rose water. Thus launching its popularity in Europe and eventually spread worldwide.

🌿 In t.c.m (traditional Chinese medicine), Chinese rose is used for regulating qi, nourishing the skin, reducing stagnation, eliminating blood stasis, and aiding in alleviating digestive issues.

 

gotu kola  | aka: ji xue cao
🌿 Nicknamed “the fountain of life” in china, with legends that herbalists lived for over 200 years due to consuming this herb. In ayurvedic medicine it is classified as tri-doshic, meaning it brings balance to all three body types.
🌿 Known as a brain tonic that revitalizes nerves and brain cells, and supports overall cognitive function, it is also used for its anti-inflammatory, antiproliferative, antioxidant, and anti-ulcer effects.

 

sage leaf  | aka: salvia officinalis
🌿 Used for centuries throughout the world for rituals, healing remedies, and a natural cleaning agent to purify the air when burned.

🌿 Contains over 160 polyphenols that act as antioxidants, have antibiotic properties, and contains vitamin k as well as small amounts of magnesium, copper, and vitamins A, C, and E.

🌿 Has a reputation for aiding in brain function, memory, and is beneficial for symptoms of Alzheimer's. In t.c.m. it is known as dan shen, this variation is also called red-rooted sage.

 

peppermint leaf  | aka: mentha piperita
🌿 Belongs to the mint family and is a hybrid of watermint and spearmint, thus is simply referred to as “bo he” meaning mint in pin yin.

🌿 Some health benefits include improving memory and cognitive performance when inhaled, relieves fatigue and daytime drowsiness, Diminishes headaches, and can aid in alleviating digestive issues like irritable bowel syndrome.

 

rosemary  | aka: mi die xiang
🌿 Native to south America and the Mediterranean, it belongs to the labiate family. It has been used for centuries to treat a variety of symptoms, from anxiety and pain relief to cognition and constipation.

🌿 known as an antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory, it boosts mood and improves memory. Ancient greek and roman students would rub rosemary oil on their foreheads and temples before an exam to amplify memory, a trick still utilized by college students today.

🌿 In the therapeutic advances in psychopharmacology, it is noted that inhaling rosemary can enhance performance, concentration, and accuracy.
